About PowerStationMath
PowerStationMath covers portable power stations for one reason: buying one is an exercise in spec-sheet fog. “1024Wh” tells you nothing about whether it runs your fridge through the night, launch-day “reviews” repeat the press release, and most “best power station” lists are indistinguishable from ads.
We started PowerStationMath in 2026 to do the boring work: size stations against your actual devices with honest watt-hour math, compare what the manufacturer actually specifies, check what long-term owners report, and — once a test unit is on the bench — measure run times ourselves.
How we work
Every recommendation on this site is built from three layers:
- Manufacturer specifications and manuals — the hard data a brand puts in writing, always labeled “per manufacturer specs.” For charging and battery-safety topics we cite official manuals, not forum folklore.
- Long-term owner reports — patterns reported by many owners (Reddit, forums, review aggregates) that surface months after launch, when the marketing fades.
- Our own measurements — marked “Tested by PowerStationMath” with method and date. We don’t have a bench unit yet; until we do, we don’t claim to have tested anything, and every article says so plainly.
The watt-hour math
Every sizing claim on this site follows one formula, stated openly in every guide: device watts × hours ÷ duty cycle (if it cycles), plus ~15% for inverter losses. If a recommendation can’t survive that arithmetic, it doesn’t make the page. See the sizing calculator to run the numbers for your own setup.
Independence
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes what we recommend: we don’t accept payment for placement, free units in exchange for a promised verdict, or “sponsored” posts. When the product we consider best isn’t available through any partner program, we still say so.
